Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken swipes at nearly every member of the Royal Family - not least Queen Camilla. In his controversial memoir Spare, Harry alleged his stepmother Camilla was 'dangerous' and a 'villain' and claimed she sacrificed him on her "PR altar".
He also revealed that he had begged his father King Charles not to marry Camilla and admitted he even once pondered if she would become his "wicked stepmother". Now a source close to Camilla has revealed what the Queen did during the time the Sussexes were railing against the royals - and claimed there was "never a fixation at the Palace" about them.
They told Newsweek that the rift between the royals and Harry and Meghan is never the topic of conversation, adding "it's almost never discussed".
In the Duke's bombshell memoir Spare, Harry mentions Camilla 60 times and claimed both he and his brother begged their father not to marry her. In one heartbreaking passage, he described how he and Prince William "sensed the presence" of a third party in their parents' infamously tumultuous relationship and claimed that his brother was left feeling "tremendous guilt" when King Charles and Camilla got together.
Harry also recalled having "mixed feelings" over Camilla marrying his father, and said he already had a rivalry with his new stepmother, as he accused her of leaking negative stories to the press about him. Harry fumed she had "sacrificed me on her personal PR altar", but he was forced to put his emotions to one side when he "saw Pa's smile and it was hard to argue with that, and harder still to deny the cause".
