Doctors made a very unexpected discovery when a mum-to-be arrived at hospital reporting stomach pains.
The 26-year-old woman was 34 weeks pregnant when she went to be checked over - and it was found she had a huge cyst - 35cm in diameter - growing around her baby.
She had previously had an ultrasound scan six weeks prior, which found an ovarian cyst present, not discovered until her third trimester.
Images shared by NeedToKnow , show an ultrasound scan of the mass prior to its removal. An illustration shows the position of the cyst, which is enveloping part of the uterus and pushing it to the side.
After a second hospital visit, doctors found the baby's growth had actually started to decline – believed to be a result of the cyst, which had pushed the uterus to the right side of the abdomen.
