🚨JUST NOW: Prince William says walking with Queen's coffin brought back memories of Diana funeral

Prince William has revealed how walking behind the Queen's coffin brought back memories of his mother's funeral.

The heir to the throne walked side-by-side with his brother Harry during yesterday's procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. The royal and his brother appeared solemn as they followed the Queen's coffin, which was sat atop a gun carriage.

Her Majesty's coffin arrived at Westminster Hall yesterday afternoon and it will now lie in state until the monarch's funeral on Monday.

The procession took place just over 25 years after William and Harry walked behind their mother's coffin during her funeral. The Prince of Wales was 15-years-old when he made the "long, lonely walk", while Harry was aged just 12.

While viewing tributes at Sandringham today, William said yesterday's procession reminded him of Princess Diana's funeral.

Jane Wells, who had come to lay flowers, said: “He told us yesterday had been particularly difficult and following the coffin had reminded him of his mother’s funeral, of Diana.
